Charities For 2011

This year the Two charities are Kerry Cancer Support Group and The Orde of Malta
Both organisations do fantastic work in our community.
The Kerry Cancer Support Group

They are a group run primarily by volunteers. It is a community project that is open to all, without referral and at no cost. We aim to provide emotional, psychological and social support to individuals in need of guidance on their cancer journey.Everyone is always welcome. Services by appointment include :Drop in centre Listening Services, Emergency accommodation, Complimentary Therapies, Transport Service, Information Evenings, Wig Consultations, Post Mastectomy Bras, Swimwear and Prostheses, Coffee Mornings can be arranged

The Order of Malta Kerry

Order of Malta is a major provider of first aid training. The Ambulance Corps is operated entirely by volunteers with the support of a small admin staff at head office. The Order of Malta does not receive any government funding to support the cost of running the organisation. Each Ambulance Corps unit raises funds locally and is self-financing.Through its youth section, Order of Malta Cadets (a National Youth Organisation), provides a full programme of youth development and sporting activities for young people. Ambulance and first aid services at all major race meetings, numerous sporting events - Gaelic football, hurling, rugby and soccer – and ambulance and transport to other charitable bodies providing assistance to the elderly and people with disabilities.
